My story
The shop floor
Straight after secondary school I joined New Born, a ready-made clothing company whose stores traded as Fifty Five, as a sales associate in the Tanta branch.
Eight months to branch manager
Six months in I became deputy manager of the branch, and two months later its manager.
Area manager — 5 branches
I took over five branches: stock counts, sales and HR — everything that kept them running.
Shoes Club
New partners joined and the group became Shoes Club. I ran the warehouses for three months, then went back to branch management — this time over all the branches.
From selling to running
My focus shifted from sales to inventory and administration, and then to two months inside the accounting department.
Two years online
I took over the group's online sales — the Facebook store, Jumia, Souq and Noon — and ran it for about two years. It was the most successful thing I did there, and by then I had worked in every part of the company.
Building a company from zero
The partnership dissolved and the company split. I left with one of the partners to found Arab Merchandise — Al-Makhzangy and Baba El-Tawfir. With no system in place, I built one: a full administrative system in Excel VBA with forms, hosted on Drive, carrying every warehouse and branch movement. I ran administration and accounts on it.
Reserve officer
I served as a reserve officer. The first six months at the reserve officers college were training only; once I joined my unit I went back to working remotely — maintaining the system I had built and handling data analysis — until I was discharged.
Operations Manager
I returned full time in October 2021 as Operations Manager. The group had grown to 35 branches with a lot of improvisation in between, so we restructured the company and moved the entire operation onto Miracle ERP.
Where Odoo started
We needed more than that system could give. I learned Odoo, built the group's system from A to Z myself and trained the staff to work on it. That is where my Odoo career began.
Tarabut
I met the owner of Tarabut and started with him as technical support. By January 2023 I was the company's projects manager, training its junior consultants, Odoo certified, with every official Odoo tutorial completed at full marks — and delivering projects across sector after sector.
Consulting on the side
A six-month consulting engagement with 99.99, a footwear trading company, to improve how it ran — alongside my work at Arab Merchandise.
The law degree
All of this ran alongside university. I graduated from the Faculty of Law, Tanta University, with a Good grade — working full time the whole way through.
Building with AI
The way I build changed again. I now develop custom modules, automations and AI features inside clients' systems with AI tooling — work that needed a development team, delivered by one consultant who knows the business behind it. This is where the field is going, and I would rather be early.
Three roles
Partner at Tarabut, Operations Manager at Al-Makhzangy, and Operations Manager at Al-Beit Al-Aali, a real estate company — consulting, Odoo and operations in the same week.
